The Madison County Mycology Club aspires to build a community across central Iowa of individuals who are passionate about mushrooms and the nature around us. Based out of Winterset, the club hosts events at parks and forests across the state and membership is open to all.
Led by our Certified Mushroom Identification Expert, the club will host guided mushroom forays, mushroom cultivation workshops, offer expert guidance on identification and more. Club members get discounts on event registration and items in the store as well as access to the Mycelium Simulacrum, an area of the site with exclusive content like our digital field guide with detailed entries on over 100 species.
what are forays and workshops?
forays
a foray is a guided mushroom hunt. we will offer different levels of forays, ranging from beginner to expert you will enter the woods with our expert team and come out with a new perspective and new skill for mushroom hunting.
Workshops
a workshop will be a hands on & head first dive into mycology and mushroom cultivation. similar to forays they will range from beginner to expert and create or expand on your knowledge of mycology.
