pammel state park
Pammel Park is located 4 miles southwest of Winterset. Modern camping facilities are located on the Backbone. Directions: From Winterset travel west on State Highway 92 for 1 mile, turn south on County Highway P68 for 3 miles.
Middle River Park
Middle River Park lies just south of Winterset on Clark Tower Rd. This spots serves as a good central location within Madison County from which we can quickly reach any of the 12 county parks which cover over 2,400 acres.
Brown’s Woods
Wildlife preserve filled with oak & hickory trees as well as trails for hiking & geocaching.
WALNUT WOODS STATE PARK
260-acre nature reserve with trails, camping, river boating & fishing & a 1930s lodge for rentals.
clanton creek recreation area
This 1,115 acre wildlife area is made up of three adjoining management units from west to east. This is one of Madison County’s largest remaining remnants of land locked wilderness.
